We set this up to inform people about an option to keep your cat safe. We lost our cat once and it was HORRIBLE! We spent days looking around the area trying to find her.
This device does not guarantee you will find your pet but it does increase your chances and also gives you a piece of mind that money can’t buy.
We found out about this device after lots of research on the internet, we read the reviews and decided to purchase one to try it out.
It took a little time to get used to it, for us and our cat, but once comfortable with it we found it an amazing device that put our minds to rest.
The device is a RFID device that has 2 parts. One ‘the tag’ goes on your pet the other ‘hand unit’ finds that ‘tag’. The hand device can find up to 4 tags. The hand unit uses visual and audio cues to point you in the right direction of the tab.
This is a review of the new Tabcat pet locator, made by the Loc8tor brand and released in early 2016. It comes with two locating tags and you can buy up to two more, for a total of 4 per unit. The range is about 400 feet. The unit is mobile so you can walk around your neighborhood trying to locate your cat if they ever get out.
It’s not going to find your pet if they have gone far, but it is very helpful if they are nearby, stuck in a neighbors garage, under your deck, etc. I especially recommend this device for indoor only cats. When indoor only cats get out, which I believe will happen to everyone at least once, if not many times, they tend to get really scared and hunker down very close by.
As a rescue expert, I have found/trapped 100's of indoor only cats that were outside for many weeks — terrified to come out of hiding. They are almost always found w/in 4 houses of their home. But finding them is nearly impossible and often we find them just in the nick of time (some have lost as much as 4 pounds and were close to death — they get THAT scared and won’t come out for anyone).
The Tabcat is perfect for finding these cats. Please note — If they fix the tag covers so that the light works, I will update this video and report. Hope you enjoy! Please keep your kitties safe :)
The hand unit is very simple to use, you turn it on and if it is in range of the tab on your cat it will pick up a signal and the tab on your cat will start a low beep.
We have decided to sell these devices on our site. If you have any questions before you buy please just ask and we will try and answer them.
The device comes with 2 tags, batteries and 2 silicon cases to attach them to your pet’s collar.
Each year, approximately 860,000 sheltered cats are euthanized. In recent years this number is in decline due to the support received through donations.
This enables more cats to be adopted and an increased number of stray cats successfully returned to their owners. It’s only possible with your support.
